Sergio Aguero Predicts Lionel Messi’s Barca Return, Believes Inter Miami Exit is Imminent

The legend from Argentina spent 21 years of his life as a young boy and man at Nou Camp, where he achieved success with the Catalans and ultimately became a superstar.

According to Sergio Agüero, Lionel Messi is likely to return to Barcelona, despite his departure from the club in 2021 due to their financial difficulties. After an emotional farewell, Messi headed to Paris Saint-Germain where he won Ligue 1 twice during his two-year stint and captained Argentina to World Cup glory last December before joining Inter Miami in the MLS this summer, owned by David Beckham. Despite lucrative offers from Saudi Arabia and a potential return to Barcelona, Messi opted for America and recently secured Inter Miami’s first piece of silverware as they won the Leagues Cup. Messi has won the Ballon d’Or a record eight times.

Despite observing his enjoyment of life in Florida, Aguero, a former teammate and close friend of Messi from Argentina, has expressed to AS that he believes Messi will eventually return to Barcelona. Although they have not discussed it, Aguero stated that Messi has always professed his love for the city and club, and still feels a strong connection to both. To give Messi the chance to bid a proper farewell to fans, Barcelona has expressed interest in arranging a friendly match.

Inter Miami has made a unique and exciting deal with Messi that includes the opportunity for him to have a stake in the club. The agreement will run until 2025, and there is even an option for an additional 12-month extension. In addition to this, Messi has expressed his interest in returning to his childhood team, Newell’s Old Boys, in Argentina, before he retires. This partnership is sure to bring a lot of excitement and success to Inter Miami.
